SWEET AND SOUR CUCUMBERS by Halina

























COLD MARINATE :     
9 cups of cold water
1 cup of salt
2kg cucumbers
6 red and yellow peppers (optional)
2 big onions
1 small chilly pepper to each jar (optional)

HOT MATINATE :
3 cups of sugar
5 cups of water
2 cups of vinegar
1 tbs of allspice
1 tbs mustard seeds
1 bay leaf to each jar

The vegetables cut to small pieces, pour water, add salt, and let stand for at least 2 hours. Then take out vegetables from cold marinate and place into the sterilized jars*. Then pour into the jars hot marinate, close the jars and put into the oven for 30 min, in 130 degrees. After that, take out the jars from oven and cool them. For the best taste our cucumbers we must wait two weeks at least. We can serve it with meat dishes, for sandwiches and as a snack for white vodka ;)

*I put the jars into the oven for 30 min in 140 degrees.
